How is interest on TDS calculated?

Interest = TDS amount * Interest rate * Number of months

Step 1: Calculate the number of months (including part of a month) for which interest is applicable.

  • April: 1 month

Step 2: Calculate the interest.

  • Interest rate = 1.5% per month
  • Interest Payable = Rs. 50,000 * 1.5% * 2 months = Rs. 1,500
